Bhawani Moennsad, born in Nürnberg, Germany, studied singing in her hometown with Monique Herreman. After finishing her Masters Degree, she worked for several years with international Wagner Bass Jan-Hendrik Rootering. Her coach today is Irmgard Boas, Dresden.

Daughter of an Indian father and German mother, Bhawani Moennsad grew up with both classical Indian and German music. As a child, she played Sitar with her father. Later during her youth, she took piano lessons and sang in a number of choirs, enjoying a deep passion for singing and music that has stayed with her until today.

Her repertoire reaches from opera and oratorio to the Lied, and on to contemporary music. The mezzo-soprano was engaged at the Frankfurt Opera and at German opera festivals. She has worked with orchestras such as the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin, Bavarian Bach Soloists, Orchestra of Maggio Musicale Florence, Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, Shenzhen Philharmonic Orchestra and many others.

Working at all the great concert halls and churches in Germany like Zollverein Essen, Thomaskirche Leipzig, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Konzerthaus and Philharmonic Berlin, she has also performed during a concert tour in South America, sang in the US, Western and Eastern Europe and China.

In april 2008, Zubin Mehta engaged her for the opening concert of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. She performed Carmen in Berlin, worked with Emmanuel Krivine and the Philharmonic Orchestra Luxembourg and performed an evening with Mozart Arias and Duets in Mainz under conductor Catherine Rueckwart and the Philharmonic Orchestra Mainz, Germany. In 2009, she sang Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana in Berlin and gave a number of concert recitals in Berlin. Her latest most successful presentation was the famous Alto-Rhapsody by Johannes Brahms for Voice, Orchestra and Men's choir. 2011 she was engaged for a solo performance in Mahler's Symphony Nr. 3 "O Mensch gib acht" in Shenzhen, China. 2012 follows Mahler's "Lied von der Erde" and another opera appearance as Carmen.

The singer has performed a number of interesting pieces in the field of New Music, which were recorded in Germany in corporation with the Bavarian Radio Broadcast.
